# Leica iCON iGD4

Connect a **Leica iCON iGD4** machine control system to RTKdata.com for centimeter-level RTK positioning on excavators, dozers, and graders. The NTRIP connection is configured on the **receiver** (iCON gps 60/80 or iCG70/160), not on the iGD4 display itself.

{% hint style="danger" %}
NTRIP settings are configured on the **GNSS receiver**, not on the iGD4 display. The receiver (iCON gps 60/80 or iCG70/160) has the built-in 3G/4G modem and NTRIP client. The display only shows the resulting position and RTK status.
{% endhint %}

{% endhint %}

## Step-by-step setup

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Verify RTK license on the receiver

1. Check that the GNSS receiver (iCON gps 60/80 or iCG70/160) has an active **RTK license**.
2. The RTK license is tied to the receiver, not the display.
3. If RTK is not licensed, contact your Leica Geosystems dealer to activate it.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Without an RTK license on the receiver, NTRIP connections will not be established even if all settings are entered correctly.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Insert SIM card into the receiver

1. Locate the SIM card slot on the GNSS receiver.
2. Insert a SIM card with an active cellular data plan.
3. Power on the receiver and verify cellular signal strength via the receiver's status indicators or the iGD4 display.
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Access the receiver's NTRIP configuration

1. Access the receiver's configuration interface. Depending on the receiver model, this may be via:
   * The **receiver's web interface** (connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and open the configuration page in a browser)
   * The **Leica iCON field software** on the iGD4 display under the receiver/corrections settings
2. Navigate to the **NTRIP** or **Corrections** configuration section.
   {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Enter RTKdata.com NTRIP settings

Fill in the NTRIP connection fields on the receiver:

{% tabs %}
{% tab title="North America" %}

* **Host (domain):** `rtk.rtkdata.com`
* **Host (IP fallback):** `13.56.117.10`
* **Port:** `2101`
* **Username / Password:** From *RTK Credentials* in the internal dashboard (not website login)
* **Mountpoint (ALL CAPS):** `AUTO`
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Europe" %}

* **Host (domain):** `eu.rtkdata.com`
* **Host (IP fallback):** `3.73.41.96`
* **Port:** `2101`
* **Username / Password:** From *RTK Credentials* in the internal dashboard (not website login)
* **Mountpoint (ALL CAPS):** `AUTO`
  {% endtab %}

{% tab title="Australia" %}

* **Host (domain):** `aus.rtkdata.com`
* **Host (IP fallback):** `54.206.56.130`
* **Port:** `2101`
* **Username / Password:** From *RTK Credentials* in the internal dashboard (not website login)
* **Mountpoint (ALL CAPS):** `AUTO`
  {% endtab %}
  {% endtabs %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Type `AUTO` manually in ALL CAPS. Do not browse the source table — enter the mountpoint name directly.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Connect and verify RTK status

1. Save the settings and initiate the NTRIP connection on the receiver.
2. Monitor the RTK status on the iGD4 display:

| Status               | Meaning                                                                   |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Autonomous / GPS** | Basic satellite fix. No corrections applied. |
| **DGPS / Float** | Correction data arriving and being processed. |
| **RTK Fixed** | Centimeter-level accuracy achieved. Ready for machine control operations. |

3. Convergence to RTK Fixed typically takes **30–90 seconds** with clear sky visibility.

{% hint style="info" %}
For machine control operations, always wait for **RTK Fixed** before beginning grading, excavation, or dozing. Working in Float mode may result in elevation errors that affect cut/fill accuracy.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Vertical reference (heights)

{% hint style="info" %}
RTK corrections deliver **ellipsoidal heights** (height above the WGS 84 ellipsoid), not orthometric heights. For machine control, you typically work with a local site calibration or localization. Configure the appropriate vertical datum in your Leica iCON project settings.
{% endhint %}

## Troubleshooting

| Problem                                   | Cause                               | Fix                                                                                                                |
| ----------------------------------------- | ----------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| Cannot find NTRIP settings on the display | NTRIP is configured on the receiver | Access the receiver's configuration interface (web UI or via iCON field software), not the display settings. |
| RTK license error | No RTK license on receiver | Contact your Leica dealer to activate the RTK license on the specific receiver unit. |
| No internet connection | SIM card missing or inactive | Verify the SIM card is properly inserted in the receiver and has an active data plan. |
| Connection fails | Wrong host or port | Double-check the host address for your region and confirm port is `2101`. |
| Authentication error | Wrong credentials | Use the username and password from your RTKdata dashboard, not your website login. Credentials are case-sensitive. |
| Stuck on Float | Poor sky visibility | Ensure the GNSS antenna is mounted high and clear on the machine, away from obstructions like booms and cabs. |
| Stuck on Float | Weak cellular signal | Check the receiver's signal strength. Construction sites in urban canyons or remote areas may have poor coverage. |
| Mountpoint error | Wrong capitalization | Type `AUTO` in ALL CAPS. |

## Tips

* **Configure the receiver, not the display.** This is the most important thing to remember with Leica iCON machine control. The receiver owns the NTRIP connection and RTK license.
* **The receiver's built-in modem** eliminates the need for external cellular devices. Just insert a SIM card and configure NTRIP.
* **iCON gps 80 and iCG160** are the higher-end receivers with faster convergence and better multipath rejection — ideal for demanding machine control environments.
* **Site calibration is critical.** Perform a site localization to align RTK coordinates with your design surface before starting machine control work.
* **Multiple machines on one site** can each use their own RTKdata connection. Each receiver needs its own SIM card and NTRIP credentials.
* **Keep receiver firmware updated** via Leica myWorld for the latest constellation support and NTRIP client improvements.
* **iGD4 vs iGD4SP:** Both displays work with the same receivers and NTRIP setup. The iGD4SP adds additional machine control features but does not change the RTK configuration process.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.rtkdata.com/integration-hub/machine-control/leica-icon-igd4.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
